Chantwood Trade Centres is a specialist developer in the growing Trade Centre market. The company was formed in 2005 by Andrew Robson previously a founding Director of Denvale Trade Parks and Denvale Trade Centres. Aidan Walls who previously worked as a Project Manager at Denvale Trade Parks has joined as a co-Director.

Denvale Trade Parks built speculative trade park schemes in conjunction with John Mowlem & Co plc with schemes at Mitcham, Basingstoke, Bristol, Cardiff, Newbury, Crawley and Salisbury. This £50m development programme provided some 350,000 sq ft of accommodation. Denvale Trade Centres undertook 3 successful Trade Centre schemes in Orpington.

The market for trade centres has now evolved to a position where it is accepted by both occupiers and investors as a defined sector in its own right and Chantwood Trade Centres is looking to develop on a national basis solely for occupiers in this sector.

The majority of companies in this sector are from the home improvement and construction related markets. Increasingly they are specialists in one particular trade i.e. plumbing and heating, tiling, electrical, and floor coverings, and are sucessfully competing with the large general suppliers such as Wickes and even the massive DIY operators. It has therefore become important to be located on high profile main road positions instead of the old traditional industrial estate. They require good car parking and high quality shell units that they can fit out to their own trading requirements.

Chantwood Trade Centres will be developing nationally to create schemes and units of the quality and size required by the Trade occupiers - typically 2,500 sq ft to 6,000 sq ft. As a core consent of B8 is required, Trade Centres are generally accepted by planning authorities as an employment use. A number of national occupiers are now represented across the Denvale development portfolio, including such companies as Wolseley Group, Plumbase, ICI Dulux Paints, Sally Hair & Beauty and Johnstone’s Decorating Centres.
